London late 1984. Ex-Birthday Party member Rowland S.Howard is recruited on guitar. After the demise of the Birthday Party in August 1983 Rowland had done basically nothing, except for guesting with Fad Gadget on stage at the Royal Albert Hall, London (on 30-Sep-83 and 01-Oct-83) in support of Siouxsie and the Banshees, joining the same Fad Gadget for the recordings of his "Gag" album in November 1983 and finally guesting at a Kas Product live concert in France in 1984. His brother Harry joins on bass. Harry had replaced Tracy Pew in The Birthday Party at several UK live concerts during April/May 1982 when Tracy was serving time in an Australian labour camp. Epic Soundtracks (a.k.a. Kevin Paul Godfrey of The Swell Maps, Red Crayola and Mute records employee) will only join on drums as of their first live gigs in May 1985. During the life span of Crime and the City Solution (1985-1991), Mick Harvey continues to play an important role in Nick Cave's Bad Seeds. He is deviding his time between Bad Seeds and Crime. As a consequence, Crime only functions around Harvey's other commitments. |
