1993 The year in which the "Tabula Rasa" tryptich is released to high critical acclaim and in which the band untertakes their longest and most succesful tour (45 dates) so far.

	Early '93 UK John Hillcoat shoots the promo videos for "Die Interimsliebenden" and "Blume" on the same day.

	10-May-93 NL Rotterdam,Feyenoord stadion De Kuip [support for U2] Note: U2 guitarist 'The Edge' had invited Neubauten to support them on their Zoo TV-Zooropa Spring/Summer tour. This was to be their first and last engagement. From the beginning of the concert the ever so open minded and intelligent U2 audience started throwing mud and plastic bottles (filled with vomit and piss) on stage. FM Einheit reciprocated by throwing an iron bar into the sea of booing U2 fans and Mark Chung threw back the bottles. After 3 songs U2's security stopped the show and the band was kicked off the tour. This was sound engineer Boris Wildorf's first engagement with Neubauten.

1994 The year that commences promisingly with the start of the "Ende Neu" album sessions, but is then followed by members' individual activities, theatre work ("Faust") and by year-end the official departure of bass player Mark Chung (who had joined in September 1981). The year that Klaus Maeck (Rip Off record shop) becomes their manager. A year without live concerts. Break-up year #1.

	Feb/Oct-94 GE East-Berlin, Akademie der Künste zu Berlin. Rehearsing for the "Faust- Mein Brustkorb:Mein Helm" theatre play. N.U. Unruh constructs the 'Orchestrion' and other devices for the play.

	30-Sep-94 UK London, Blixa & FM record "Footnotes" (comments to the "Tabula Rasa" tryptich) for the Tri-Set Box.

	Nov/Dec-94 Mark Chung officially leaves the band which he had joined in September 1981 to concentrate fully on Freibank and his job at Sony Entertainment.

	Nov/Dec-94 GE East-Berlin, Akademie der Künste zu Berlin. Start of the recording sessions for the "Ende Neu" album & "Stella Maris" single. Recorded in this non-studio environment were "Installation no.1", "Die Explosion im Festspielhaus" (with ex-Bad Seed Roland Wolf on organ), "Der Schacht von Babel" (with Roland Wolf on bass), "Was ist ist" and "Bili Rubin". Without Mark Chung. Engineered by Boris Wilsdorf and Jon Caffery.



1995 The year in which the band nearly disintegrates. The remaining band members spend most time on work outside of Neubauten. Continuation of the theatre work ("Faust" and "Katarsis"). In November FM Einheit (who had joined the band in April 1981) leaves. Another year without live concerts. Break-up year #2.

	17-Mar-95 Roland Wolf (tour keyboard player and replacement of Mark Chung since February 1994) dies in a car crash.

	01-Sep-96 GE Berlin,Tempodrom [Das Konzert der Freunde von Rio Reiser] Setlist: The Garden/ (and one other song). Note: On 20-Aug-1996 Rio Reiser, front man of Ton Steine Scherben, died. Several friends and artists joined this farewell concert. It was recorded by German ORB radio and later released as "Das Konzert der Freunde - Abschied von Rio" 2CD. Line-up: Blixa Bargeld (vocals), Alex Hacke (bass) & N.U. Unruh (drums), with backing tapes.



1997 The year in which the band is revived with 3 new members and that (as of July) is exclusively taken up by (34) live concerts.

	1997 Berlin-Lichterfelde-Süd (an abandoned US military base),Andrew's Barracks (former American Forces Network radio station),auditioning for a new guitar player & drummer. Caspar Brötzmann is one of the guitarists considered, but not chosen. It's Jochen Arbeit who is recruited on guitar and Rudy Moser on drums (both ex- Die Haut). Initially they are only as 'hired hands' for the upcoming tour, but they're now permanent band members. For the tour Ash Wednesday (formerly from Australian band The Models) joins on keyboards and Alex Hacke switches to bass.
