25-Nov-84 to Dec-84
GE Berlin,Hansa Ton Studios: "The Firstborn Is Dead" album recording sessions. Engineered by Flood.

1985
The year of touring (UK, Europe, US & Australia), recording the "Kicking Against The Pricks" covers album and in which Nick works on his novel "And The Ass Saw The Angel".

During December 1984/January 1985 Mick Harvey forms with Simon Bonney Crime and the City Solution MkIII in Melbourne. Nick Cave works in Melbourne until February 1985 on the "Ghosts...of the Civil Dead" Hillcoat/English film script. The release of "The Firstborn Is Dead" album is delayed due to the fact that Bob Dylan needed to give his approval for the cover version of "Wanted Man". The album is therefore only released after the scheduled April UK tour.

around 23-Mar-85

Setlist: Tupelo/ Black Crow King/ Blind Lemon Jefferson/ Train Long Suffering/ Well Of Misery/ Wanted Man/ Knockin'On Joe/ Avalanche/ Saint Huck/ Wild World

Note: Start of the Bad Seeds' 9 date UK tour, which takes place without 2 of its members, Blixa and Barry. Rowland S.Howard (ex Birthday Party and then also Crime and the City Solution) replaces Blixa Bargeld who's recording the "Halber Mensch" album with Einstürzende Neubauten in Berlin and Christophe Dreher (then of Die Haut) replaces Barry Adamson who does not participate due to personal reasons. Rowland was hastily recruited literally 24 hours before the tour started and had no time to properly learn the songs. Christophe, although a good bass player, did not fit in. Thomas Wydler (then of Die Haut) replaced Mick Harvey (who switched to guitar) on drums. Thomas had, at the time, almost no knowledge of the English language and had to be instructed by Mick in, his then poor, German. Thomas nevertheless played well and is still part of The Bad Seeds to this day.
